How to Change Clothes in a Photo with AI

A direct three-step workflow—no manual masking or specialist fashion design software required.

01

Upload a clear person photo

Choose a front-facing half-body or full-body image where the clothes are visible and not heavily blocked by hands, bags or furniture. The first image always defines the person, identity, pose, framing and background that should be preserved.

02

Choose a style or garment

Use Change Outfit for fast creative restyling with eight practical presets and an optional description. Use Try a Garment when you have a real shirt, dress, suit or other clothing image you want the AI to follow.

03

Generate, compare and download

Select 1K or an available higher resolution, see the exact credit cost, and generate. Compare before and after, adjust the clothing direction if needed, then download the completed image without paying again for the download.

Eight Outfit Directions, One Consistent Identity

Each preset sets a clear wardrobe direction while the tool keeps the face, body, pose and scene consistent. Add a short styling note when you want a color, material or silhouette variation.

Look 0101

Business Suit

Tailored, neutral and presentation-ready for profile photos, pitch decks or a professional concept preview.

Look 0202

Smart Casual

Relaxed structure, clean layers and versatile neutral styling for work, travel and everyday portraits.

Look 0303

Streetwear

Layered proportions, technical texture and bold color blocking without copying protected fashion logos.

Look 0404

Evening Wear

Refined formal fabrics and controlled sheen for dinners, galas, celebrations and editorial portraits.

Look 0505

Wedding Guest

Polished celebratory clothing that avoids bridal white and keeps the look tasteful rather than costume-like.

Look 0606

Sportswear

Clean athletic paneling and breathable technical fabric for fitness concepts and active lifestyle visuals.

Look 0707

Vintage

Warm materials, period-aware tailoring and restrained retro character without turning the person into a caricature.

Look 0808

Traditional-inspired

Respectful woven detail and elegant craft references, intentionally avoiding stereotypes or a theatrical costume effect.

For the most believable change, use a photo that already shows the area you want to replace. A full outfit needs a full-body or three-quarter photo; a shirt change works well from the waist up.

What an AI Outfit Changer Is Good For

Use it as a visual idea generator whenever clothing is the variable—but the person and photograph should stay familiar.

01

Personal style planning

Explore colors, silhouettes and levels of formality before reorganizing a wardrobe or shopping for a new occasion.

02

Professional portraits

Test a blazer, suit or smart-casual look on an existing portrait while keeping the same expression and camera angle.

03

Social content

Create multiple outfit directions from one approved photo for posts, thumbnails, moodboards and creative campaigns.

04

Garment visualization

Upload a product or flat-lay garment image to preview its overall visual direction on a person before a purchase or shoot.

Designed Around the Person, Not Just the Clothes

A good clothes changer should feel like a careful photo edit—not a newly invented person wearing a vaguely similar outfit.

The promise

Change the wardrobe. Keep the visual truth of the photograph.

Strong identity guard

The tool is designed to preserve facial structure, age, skin tone, hair, body proportions, hands, pose, framing, lighting and background. Only the selected clothing area is meant to change.

Two workflows in one tool

Use a preset when you know the mood but not the exact garment. Switch to a garment reference when color, neckline, sleeve, pattern or construction details matter more.

Natural fabric behavior

Our AI rebuilds seams, folds, shadows, perspective and occlusion so clothing follows the person instead of looking pasted onto the photo.

Transparent quality and cost

The generator shows 1K, 2K and eligible 4K options with their real credit costs. Plan locks and ratio limits are visible before you submit a job.

Safer, private workflow

Uploads are used for the requested generation and protected by the same account, moderation and task controls as the rest of CubistAI. Never upload a photo you do not have permission to edit.

A visual preview—not a sizing tool

AI can create a useful style or garment visualization, but a generated image cannot measure your body, predict physical comfort or guarantee how a manufactured item will fit in real life. Treat the result as creative direction, not a tailoring or purchase guarantee.

It does not predict size, tightness or comfort.Tiny prints and hidden construction details may vary.Occluded clothing areas must be inferred by AI.

AI Clothes Changer FAQ

Q01

How can I change clothes in a photo with AI?

Upload a clear photo, choose Change Outfit or Try a Garment, select the clothing area and generate. In reference mode, add a separate garment photo; the tool keeps the person’s pose and background while rebuilding only the clothes.

Q02

Is the AI clothes changer free to use?

Yes, you can start with a free CubistAI account. New accounts receive free credits and the Free plan can generate 1K results. A 1K change currently costs 6 credits; 2K and eligible 4K outputs require higher plans and more credits. No credit card is required to create a free account.

Q03

Can AI change clothes without changing my face?

That is the goal of this workflow. The tool is designed to keep the face, age, skin tone, hairstyle, expression, body, pose and background consistent. Small details can still vary, so use a sharp, well-lit photo and regenerate if the identity drifts.

Q04

Can I upload a picture of an outfit to try on?

Yes. Choose Try a Garment, upload the person as image A and a clear garment image as image B. The tool uses visible type, color, material, pattern, neckline, sleeves and construction as guidance while adapting the clothing to the person’s pose.

Q05

Does virtual try-on show the real fit and size?

No. This is a generative visual preview, not body measurement or garment simulation. It cannot reliably predict size, tightness, drape under movement or physical comfort, so do not use the result as a purchase or tailoring guarantee.

Q06

What photo gives the best clothes-changing result?

Use a front-facing, well-lit half-body or full-body image with natural posture. Keep the target clothing area visible and avoid crossed arms, large bags, heavy hair coverage, motion blur and extreme camera angles. A simple background also makes fabric edges easier to rebuild.

Q07

Can I generate a 4K outfit image?

4K is available only for selected aspect ratios in the current workflow: 16:9, 9:16, 21:9, 1:2 and 2:1. Common 3:4 and 4:5 portraits can use 1K or 2K. The tool disables an incompatible 4K choice instead of cropping your person photo unexpectedly.

Q08

Can I use an AI outfit image commercially?

Commercial use is available according to your CubistAI plan and terms. You remain responsible for rights to the person photo, garment image and any visible trademarks. Avoid uploading protected designs or using a real person’s likeness without permission.

Q09

Are my uploaded photos stored or shared?

Your files are processed to complete the generation and results are associated with your own account and history settings. CubistAI does not sell your photos. You should still use only images you are authorized to edit and remove results you no longer want in your account.
